Aiguamolls de l’Empordà
The Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park is one of the natural treasures of Catalonia where you can see a wide variety of animal species, and is unquestionably the best spot for bird watching. Numerous birds have made the park their refuge and resting place, and more than 300 species regard the wetlands as home, many of them protected species of great beauty.
Bird watching has become an extremely popular practice, and spotting and identifying different birds can be really challenging. Birds are certainly the main wildlife attraction of the park. To date, some 329 species have been recorded, of which 82 regularly nest in the park. The most representative and prolific species are those that inhabit aquatic environments. During migratory periods (February-June and July-October), thousands of birds use these wetlands to rest and feed.
